In the wake of Miley Cyrus’ abrupt departure from Twitter last week, the “Hannah Montana” star has released both a statement and a rap explaining why she left the micro-blogging Web site. In addition to saying that her rumored boyfriend, Liam Hemsworth, had nothing to do with her departure from the site, where she readily wrote about the most mundane activities in her life, she said she now wants to keep her private life private.
In a statement on Mileyworld.com (via Perezhilton.com), Cyrus said that she needs to step away from Twitter so that she can separate her personal and professional lives and distance herself from the “negativity” the Internet makes “so available.”
“You all are the closest thing to my heart & it breaks my spirit to hear that some of you feel neglected since I deleted my twitter,” she wrote, addressing her fans. “It was a wonderful way to stay connected to you & I really felt like during that time we became very much like friends. Twitter is a beautiful thing if used for the right reason. I love my job so much that it is hard to believe sometimes that it is considered ‘working.’ But in the end it is still a business and I do need some sort of a ‘normal’ life as well.
